Expanding One’s Visual Practice NEW COURSE! A combination of looking at art and studio critique, this course is designed for the student-artist who has been painting for a while and wishes to bring his or her work to another level. Am I ready to start exhibiting? Where does my artwork fit?
There will be two sessions in the beginning in which students will articulate their goals in relation to their work, and familiarize themselves with each other’s work. Three sessions will be spent looking at art in galleries, museums, and in the studios of more established artists. These visits will be selected with the students’ work and goals in mind. There will be one sessions towards the end of the course to assess developments, and plan for the future. The facts of life of the artist in the twenty-first century, that is, time-management, globalization, galleries, residencies, and grants will be considered.
